The central challenge facing the U.S. isn’t a clash of traditional ideologies, but the entrenched conversion of wealth into political power by corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Through campaign contributions, lobbying, and the revolving door between government and industry, they shape economic rules to serve their interests—driving up inequality, raising costs for essentials like housing and healthcare, and weakening the federal government’s ability to serve most Americans.
Media consolidation and PR efforts obscure how deeply money influences policy. Coverage often lacks context or substance. There’s little awareness of how limited mainstream media’s independence is—or how rarely it exposes structural issues. We seldom see sustained reporting on minimum wage impacts, corporate consolidation, or how corporations shape federal policy. Even politically engaged Americans often lack a clear sense of how government functions—or of rising inequality and spending trends.
Most critically, we lack public awareness of how institutionalized this conversion of wealth into power has become—or of the billions spent annually to maintain and grow that influence.
Grasping this structure is essential—not just to understand today’s challenges, but to build a realistic path forward, together. Unite & Lead.
